M.G.
Pump Engineering was established in March
1994 by Martin Green after a long career as an employed Engineer, since when
the business has gone from strength to strength, building
on the lifetime of experience of the combined work force
which exceeds 60 years.
Martin’s
first contact with pumps came in 1972 when he joined Stothert
and Pitt of Bath as an apprentice, with the majority of his
time being spent in the Pump Division. He worked a total
of 17 years with Stothert and Pitt (the latter 10 years as
a Service Engineer trouble-shooting pump and system problems),
traveling extensively throughout the whole of the U.K. and
parts of Europe.
He
was also involved in a project called “Multi-phase” which
was a system developed by Stothert and Pitt for handling
all contents of a well head (crude oil, sand, water, gas)
and pumping ashore, rather than using the separation plants
on rigs.
M.G.
Pumps’ other senior engineer, Michael Caines, started
his working life involved with pumps and their systems with
Imperial Chemical Industries (I.C.I.) where he served his
time as an apprentice. He then moved to the Middle East for
11 years working for refineries, including commissioning
and trouble-shooting for Aramco, and after returning to the
U.K. spent 3 years with Stothert and Pitt as a Pump Service
Engineer. This is where the working relationship between
Martin and Michael was forged.
Martin
and Michael have been running an independent pump business
since early 1989 and M.G. Pumps has had contracts with :
Shell U.K., B.P. Oil, Esso, P&O, M.O.D., R.A.F., Mobil,
Texaco, Marathon, B.P. Air, Conoco, Total Oil, F.M.A., Shell
and Esso Channel Islands and numerous other small oil storage
companies. They have also furnished food industry companies
handling edible oils, such as Van-Den-Bergh Foods Ltd.(now
Pura Foods), K.P. Foods and United Molasses. |
